Vivo has used a high value autonomous network scenario to automate the deployment of the transport network as part of its 5G build.
Vivo’s autonomous network AI project speeds up 5G deployment
The ability to optimize capacity planning is critical to successful network design. Yet it can be a complex undertaking, straddling different network layers and requiring input from a number of teams.
So when Telefónica’s Brazilian arm Vivo started deploying its 5G network it looked for ways to increase the efficiency and accuracy of the data analysis linked to capacity planning, and notably on the transport layer.
The answer was Telefónica’s Fractal project, as Guilherme Fernandes Silveira, Director of Transformation at Vivo (Telefonica Brasil) discusses in this video with Nilmar Seccomandi David, Director of Autonomous Network and Infrastructure in the Global CTIO Unit of Telefónica S.A., and Andy Tiller, Executive Vice President, Member Products, TM Forum.
The Fractal project, which is one of Telefonica’s high value autonomous network (AN) scenarios, uses artificial intelligence to deliver the intelligence that engineering and implementation teams need to optimize network capacity planning. The result, as Silveira, explains, is a much faster process to develop a high-resilience network.
